Wayne Rooney is house hunting in Britain’s most expensive seaside town! But will he be there for long?

According to The Sun, England and Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has been spotted looking for houses in the seaside town of Salcombe.

The town dubbed the 'Costliest seaside town in Britain' has an average home price of £1.1 million ($1.4m, €1.2m) and is located 25 miles away from Plymouth.

Salcombe is the perfect place for Rooney after he was appointed as the manager of Championship side Plymouth Argyle on the 26th of May, just four months after losing his job at Birmingham City.

According to The Guardian, Rooney said: "I'm excited. I think, obviously to go in as Argyle's new head coach, it was a fuller process with a lot of managers who were interviewed for the job, and thankfully the club thought I was the best person for the job."

The 38-year-old suffered a terrible time at Birmingham City last season, spending 83 days at the club, losing nine of his 15 games.

After such a dismal spell in the Championship last season, is it too much of a risk for Rooney to buy a house in the most expensive coastal town in the UK?

The Sun says Wayne's wife, Coleen, is thought to be keen on having a second home by the coast, with the main home remaining in Cheshire, where their kids go to school.

Even if Rooney were to have a disaster at Plymouth next season, he and his wife would still come away with a home part of South Devon's Area of Natural Beauty.

A footie insider said: "Coleen's given her blessing to this possible move. She wants somewhere suitable for the family, and they all love a beach holiday so Salcombe would be ideal."

Will the England legend Wayne Rooney find a happy and new long-term home in Devon, or will it quickly become a holiday retreat?
