'Vince the Prince' in charge

Vincent Kompany has recently been appointed as Bayern Munich's new coach, with a clear objective: to get the German giants back on the right track. Some new signings should help the Belgian achieve his goal. After being linked with Jack Grealish, Kompany is now rumoured to want another Premier League star.

Bruno Fernandes

According to O Jogo, Kompany and Bayern are interested in signing Manchester United star and captain Bruno Fernandes.

Trophyless season

After a disappointing trophyless season, Der Rekordmeister wants to build a new top team, and Fernandes could well be the new leader in midfield the Germans are looking for.

Miguel Pinho

According to O Jogo, there have already been talks between Bayern and Fernandes' agent Miguel Pinho, which could imply that a summer move is on the table.

Fabrizio Romano

However, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano spoke to CaughtOffside, immediately dashing the hopes of Bayern's fans: "The reality is that Fernandes’ agent Miguel Pinho has met with some European top clubs last week. Contacts took place, but the player remains focused on Man United and his exit is not something decided at this point."

New contract ?

"It will also depend on Man United’s new project, what happens with the manager, what they will ‘present’ to Bruno in new meeting. It’s a stand-by moment between Fernandes and Man United, waiting to make final decision with a new contract for the player also being a possibility in case he decides to stay," Romano added.

Current deal

According to Transfermarkt, Fernandes' current contract at Old Trafford runs until mid-2026, with an option for a further year. His current market value is estimated at €70m (almost £60m and around $76m).

Decent season

Individually, Fernandes enjoyed a decent season at Old Trafford, scoring 15 goals and providing 13 assists in 48 games, according to Transfermarkt.

FA Cup

After a disappointing eighth place finish in the Premier League, Fernandes and United salvaged their season by winning the FA Cup 2-1 against rivals Manchester City. The Portuguese star played a vital role in that victory with a brilliant assist for Kobe Mainoo.
