American track and field athlete Tori Bowie, three-time Olympic medalist at Rio 2016, has died at the age of 32.

Official confirmation

Her agency, Icon Management, confirmed the athlete's death on social media.

"We are devastated"

"We are devastated to share the sad news of Tori Bowie's death. We have lost a customer, dear friend, daughter and sister," says Icon Management.

"Tori was a champion..... A beacon that shone bright! We are heartbroken and our prayers are with her family and friends," the statement concluded.

She shone in Rio 2016

The athlete was one of the US stars at the 2016 Rio Olympics, where she won gold in the 4x100m, silver in the 100m and bronze in the 200m. These successes were joined in London 2017 by a double world championship over 100 m and 4x100 m.

Tori Bowie was found dead at her Florida home on May 2, TMZ reported.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office in Florida reported that a squad car drove by the athlete's home on the afternoon of May 2 and, given the situation, decided to enter the home, where they found Tori Bowie's lifeless body.
