Bayern Munich, the reigning Bundesliga champions, endured a bumpy season with Julian Nagelsmann on the bench. The Bavarian squad has proven to be a leaky ship this season, with confidential information finding its way to the public domain.

Nagelsmann sacked

While Nagelsmann declared his public witch hunt, the squad's chemistry dropped noticeably, dropping the reigning Bundesliga champions into second place behind Borussia Dortmund. The Bavarian club decided to sack Nagelsmann and bring in a quick replacement for the rest of the season.

Thomas Tuchel was chosen as Nagelsmann's successor, becoming Bayern Munich's new head coach. A big responsibility and a big challenge for the French coach joining the Bavarians mid-season, however, he is confident the club will regroup and push forward once again.

Former Chelsea manager

The former Chelsea manager agreed to a contract until June 2025 and committed to rebuilding a strategy to provide attractive football. However, Tuchel is aware of Bayern’s expectations and how his results will ultimately dictate his continuity.

A risky business

Being Bayern’s head coach is risky business. It is a double edged sword that has seen seven coaches in the last five years, some by the likes of Carlo Ancelotti and Pep Guardiola.

Make or break!

Thomas Tuchel and his team are about to enter what is called a “make-or-break moment”. The next few weeks will determine the team's fate, not only in the Champions League but in the Bundesliga as well.

Has done it before

The stakes couldn’t be higher for the French coach, however, the fiery veteran manager has the experience. Tuchel took Chelsea to the Champions League final during the 2020-2021 season and beat Guardiola's Manchester City in the final.

Adapt and survive

“These are the weeks of truth. April and May are important weeks for FC Bayern, especially when there are titles to be won,” Tuchal shared with the press. “Normally, the club is used to leading the league and focusing on the other competitions, but that’s not the case now.”

Keep calm and carry on

Tuchel’s dose of calm, right in the eye of the storm, reflects his confidence in his project moving forward. With a crucial Champions League game against Manchester City around the corner, Tuchel and his men will have to perfect their strategies to defeat Guardiola’s inform Manchester City.

April 11th face off

A big game on April 11th for the Bavarians, a thrilling match for neutral spectators, and a "make or break" moment for the newly signed coach, Thomas Tuchel. Two historic football institutions going head to head for a pass to the Champions League semi-finals!
