Canada is an upcoming force in international soccer, with some excellent players representing top clubs. Let's have a look at the best Canadian soccer players of all-time.

Canada managed to qualify for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, playing against Belgium, Croatia and Morocco in the group stage. The Canadians went home empty-handed, but some players gave the world a foretaste of what is to come.

One of Canada's current best players, Jonathan David plays for French side LOSC Lille. Clinching the Ligue 1 title in the 2020-21 season, David forced his breakthrough at Belgian side KAA Gent, scoring 37 for the club.

A soccer prodigy at a young age, Alphonso Davies was transferred in 2019 from the Vancouver Whitecaps to Bayern Munich in a 14 million euro deal ($15.2m US). German money well spent, as Davies would go on to become a dangerous asset for the Germans.

Currently playing for Turkish side Besiktas, Atiba Hutchinson represented his country on 103 occasions, scoring nine goals.

Ontario-born Julian De Guzman made a name for himself in Germany, Spain and the USA. The 89-time international played for Saarbrücken, Hannover 96 and Deportivo La Coruña, amongst other clubs.

Having represented in England's national team, but born in Canada, Owen Hargreaves built an amazing career for himself at Bayern Munich and Manchester United, before retiring in 2012 at Manchester City.

Born in Scotland, Scott Arfield started his career at Falkirk. He later passed though the likes of Huddersfield and Burnley, before signing for Rangers in 2018, where he still plays.

A key player in Canada's 2000 Gold Cup win, Craig Forrest played for several clubs in Engeland, such as West Ham United and Ipswich Town. Forrest went on to represent Canada on 56 occasions, keeping a clean sheet in 19 games.

Having played for Canada 82 times, Randy Samuel played in the Netherlands, England, Norway and the USA, before signing for CF Montréal in January 2011. He would retire exactly one year later.

At 32 of age, Junior Hoilett has been a familiar face in English soccer for the last 15 years, with a short spell in Germany at SC Paderborn and FC St. Pauli.

Having represented Canada 56 times, Patrice Bernier built a career for himself in Germany, Norway and Denmark, before retiring in the beginning of 2018 at CF Montréal. During his career, Bernier won two Danish and two Canadian cups.

Portugal-born Fernando Aguiar played for a handful of Portuguese clubs, including top side SL Benfica. On an international level, he represented Canada, playing 13 times for the Canucks.

Playing for Belgian side Club Brugge, Tajon Buchanan is one of the brightest prospects in Canadian soccer. Known for his acceleration and dribbling skills, the 24-year-old is linked with a move to Italian giants Internazionale.

Dwayne De Rosario started his career at Canadian side Toronto Lynx, before embarking on a career in Germany and the MLS. De Rosario played 81 games for Canada, scoring 22 goals.

Having played for renowned European clubs such as Werder Bremen and Tottenham Hotspur, Paul Stalteri undoubtedly deserves a spot in this list. The former defender/midfielder retired in 2013 and is now working as assistant manager at Toronto FC.
