Breaking the record

Harry Kane scored his 54th England goal against Italy last week, breaking Wayne Rooney's record of 53 goals in 39 fewer games.

Adding to it

England's top goal scorer didn't take long in adding to the total, scoring just a few days later against Ukraine at Wembley, securing England's perfect start to Euro 2024 qualification.

'Giving it back one day'

According to skysports.com, Kane said, "I was on the pitch when Wayne broke the record. When I presented him the boot for breaking the record, he said he'd be giving it back to me one day."

A poacher

Out of his 55 goals scored for England, Kane has scored 53 of his goals inside the box, despite being known as a player who likes to take on spectacular efforts.

Plenty more to come

At just 29, Kane still has plenty more years to add to the record and make it unbreakable for years to come.

Top five goals

Here are Harry Kane's top five goals for England, taking into consideration the quality and the importance of the goal.

Vs Italy 2023, record breaker (5)

At number five, it has to be the record-breaking goal. Although it was a penalty in a qualification match, the importance of breaking the record has it at number five.

Class penalty

Kane is no stranger to penalties in an England shirt, scoring his 18th penalty for his country in a 2-1 victory over Italy last week. The striker kept composure and fired the ball into the top right corner

Vs Germany 2016 (4)

Harry Kane rolled back the years of football history with his impressive goal against Germany in March 2016.

Cruyff

The England striker produced an unbelievable Cruyff turn, spinning past the German defenders and firing past Manuel Neuer. England would later win the game 3-2.

Vs Poland World Cup qualification (3)

One of Kane's only goals outside the box came against Poland in qualification for the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

30 yard strike

England were struggling to break down a resolute Poland side, but in the 70th minute, Kane fired a swirling shot into the bottom corner from 30 yards past former Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny.

Sinking the Germans, Euro 2020 (2)

Harry Kane had a slow start to his Euro 2020 campaign, failing to score in the group stage. However, Kane turned up with a massive goal in the round of 16 against Germany.

Sealing the victory

After Raheem Sterling put England 1-0 up, Kane put the finishing touches on the victory, scoring a diving header, putting England 2-0 up and sending them into the quarter-finals.

Vs Denmark Euro 2020 semi-final (1)

The England striker scored one of the most important goals in the nation's history, firing England into their first major final since 1966 in a win against Denmark in the Euro 2020 semi-final.

Extra time

Kane had his original penalty kick saved by Kasper Schmeichel, but he followed up the miss to put England in front, sending them to the final against Italy.
