Real Madrid win again with new signing Jude Bellingham leading the way

Real Madrid kicked off their 2023 league season with a  victory after defeating Athletico de Bilbao in San Mames. The 'merengues' now lead the table, after another great performance against U.D. Almeria, where Jude Bellingham scored a double!

Real Madrid is experiencing a generational transition, where new players like Bellingham are given important leadership roles on the pitch.

Bellingham's presence gives Real Madrid a very assertive presence in the midfield. His technical ability alongside his great vision makes him one of the most promising players on the squad.

During the match against U.D Almeria, Ancelotti went out with his classic 4-4-2 with Fede Valverde, Kross, Tchuameni, and Bellingham, benching Moderic and Camavinga.

Carlo's 4-4-2 formation is very fluid, which allows players like Bellingham to receive passes in between lines, at times playing like a 'false 9'.

Since Karim Benzema left Real Madrid, many debates have surrounded the team's goalscoring ability. The French striker would average 35 goals a season!

However, this new fluid structure allows Bellingham, Rodrigo, and Vini more opportunities in the box.

This 'false 9' tactic being used by Real Madrid resembles a similar approach as the Spanish National team in 2012, which lacked strikers at the time. A very efficient tactic with quality midfielders.

Bellingham is a very talented player who roams the mid-field, playing a 'mezzala' role. Ancelotti is giving him full autonomy and it's working to perfection.

Bellingham followed his league debut goal with another double this week. Real Madrid was down a goal but Billingham snatched a quick one of a rebound to settle the score in the 20th minute.

During the second half, the young English midfielder connected on the end of a cross to tap in his third goal of the season so far. He is currently Real Madrid's top scorer.

Vini Jr had a great game after his quiet performance in San Mamés last week. The Brazilian winger got his first goal of the season after a great volley outside of the box.

Vini Jr and Bellingham have been on the same wavelength and their chemistry is only growing by the day. During Vini Jr's goal, he referenced the Bellingham celebration which was greeted by the Englishman with a smile and a hug.

Ironically, Jude's brother, Jobe Bellingham also scored a double during the weekend for Sunderland in the EFL Championship. Maybe they are both running a little side bet to see who scored the most?

Andriy Lunnin has replaced Courtois as keeper due to his ACL injury. However, with Kepa's recent signing, there is a big debate surrounding the goal. Who will be Real Madrid's keeper this season?

During the match against Almeria, Lunnin put in a great performance! The Ukrainian keeper stopped some important shots, further fueling the keeper debate at the Santiago Bernabeu. Carlo Ancelotti will have to make a choice soon.
