Newcastle captain Jamaal Lascelles was involved in a brawl that could have cost not only his career but also his life.

6 to 8 attackers

According to the Daily Mail, a group of 6 to 8 attackers attacked Jamaal Lascelles in central Newcastle outside Chinawhiate, a well-known nightclub in the city. The incident occurred on Sunday, August 20, although video of the brawl only emerged on Tuesday.

Attacked younger brother

The footballer was leaving the restaurant accompanied by his brother and a friend when one of the attackers elbowed Lascelles' 19-year-old brother in the neck.

He confronted the attacker

The centre-back pushed the attacker and asked him to explain himself, as seen in a video published by the Daily Mail.

Verbal threat

The argument may have escalated when the group that attacked them even threatened the footballer and his two companions: "We will shoot you."

The argument escalated

Jamaal Lascelles and his two companions were physically attacked and at one point saw a vodka bottle being hurled at the Newcastle captain's head.

Beaten up from all directions

The Daily Mail reports that the footballer was "hit from all directions" as he tried to defend his brother, who was punched several times, including in the face.

Unconscious for 15 minutes

The third companion had to be taken to the emergency room because he was unconscious for 15 minutes after being kicked hard in the head. There were fears that he would not recover from the head trauma, the Daily Mail reported.

The thugs fled

The brawl, which took place on Westgate Road, is already being investigated by Northumbria Police, who were unable to arrest the fleeing attackers when they arrived at the scene.

Captain since 2016

Jamaal Lascelles has been at Newcastle since 2014 and has worn the captain's armband since 2016. He's a legend at the club.
