Man City’s Khaldoon Al Mubarak has breaking Pep Guardiola contract news

Manchester City’s chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak is set to battle it out on two fronts as his side launches a legal battle against the Premier League.

Whilst the Premier League is gearing up for Man City’s 115 charges to be formally heard, Al Mubarak is also desperate to secure Pep Guardiola’s long-term services with the Spaniard suggesting he may leave when his contract runs out in 2025, per The Independent.

Al Mubarak told his club’s internal media, “Pep has always been fully committed to this club, fully committed to every contract that he has signed with us… I have no doubt that we will find, as always, we have done, the right solution that works for Pep and works for us.”

It is no surprise the Man City chairman is so keen to keep the former Barcelona boss, given City recently wrapped up their unprecedented four-consecutive Premier League title.

Al Mubarak made his intentions clear for the 2024/25 season, telling reporters, “Five in a row. Absolutely. Without a doubt.”

Off the pitch, City are also involved in never-before-seen battles, with the Premier League’s 115 charges against the Cityzens reportedly being heard in November, with TalkSport reporting City could face relegation if found guilty.

Al Mubarak said he hopes his club will be, “judged by the facts and not by claims and counter-claims,” when the judgment is handed out.

Manchester City’s legal battle continues to snowball as the club has counter-punched, as they have recently launched legal action against the Premier League’s associated party transaction rules which determine the fairness of sponsorship deals, per The BBC.

Manchester City released a statement in regards to their legal action, describing the current rules as a “tyranny of the majority,” based on British politician John Stewart Mill’s line from his book On Liberty. It is a deliberately provocative statement that twists Mill’s meaning from defending the downtrodden to propping up a petro-state-owned, dominant football club.

City’s performances on the pitch leave little doubt in anyone’s mind that they are one of, if not the best football team in the world. But with fans becoming more and more disillusioned by the cynical nature of the Cityzen’s success, their legal action won’t help them win any popularity contests. For that matter, neither will re-signing Pep Guardiola…
