Julien Nagelsmann rejects Chelsea! A look at his journey to the managerial elite

German coach Julian Nagelsmann has pulled out of the Chelsea managerial search due to reservations over the recruitment process.

According to metro.co.uk, Nagelsmann became uneasy following a series of meetings with the Chelsea recruitment team, in which he found the club was considering multiple managers.

Nagelsmann was recently sacked by Bayern Munich and was replaced by former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel.

Following his success in Germany, multiple top teams have been interested in requiring his services.

Nagelsmann joined Hoffenheim's youth setup in 2010 as a coach, working his way up to U19 managers and a brief spell as the assistant manager from 2012-2013.

The German coach took over as Hoffenheim's first-team manager in October 2015, becoming the youngest manager in Bundesliga history, aged 28.

After taking over, Hoffenheim was in threat of relegation. However, Nagelsmann guided his side to seven wins in the last 14 to keep the team in the Bundesliga.

In 2017 and 2018, The young German coach led Hoffenheim to fourth and third-place finishes, the club's highest-ever standing. In both seasons, he secured Champions League football but failed to make an impact.

Nagelsmann became the youngest coach in Bundesliga history to manage 100 games but announced he was leaving the club in 2019, joining RB Leipzig on a four-year deal.

Nagelsmann led Leipzig to the top of their Champions League group, reaching the knockout rounds for the first time in their history and becoming the youngest manager to win a Champions League game.

He led RB Leipzig to the Champions League semi-final, defeating Jose Mourinho's Tottenham and Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid before losing 3-0 to French giants PSG.

In his final season with Leipzig, Nagelsmann led his side to a second-place finish in the Bundesliga, a cup final defeat to Borussia Dortmund, and a loss in the Champions League last 16 to Liverpool.

According to marca.com, in April 2021, Bayern Munich hired Julian Nagelsmann on a five-year deal for a then-world-record managerial transfer fee of 25 million euros.

The coaching prodigy won the Bundesliga and DFL Super Cup in his first and only full season in charge of the club, but his side lost in the quarter-final of the Champions League to Villarreal.

After securing his second DFL Super Cup title, Nagelsmann was sacked in March 2023, leaving Bayern one point behind Dortmund in the league but still securing the team in the Champions League quarter-final, defeating PSG 3-0.

The German coach is notorious for implementing the 'gegenpress,' a tactic that forces players to win the ball back as quickly as possible after losing it. He is also known for his versatility with formations and maintaining possession.
