Is George Russell better than seven-time Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton?
At the Canadian Grand Prix on the 9th of June, Mercedes recorded their best finish to date, with George Russell finishing third and Lewis Hamilton securing fourth place.
Hamilton was overtaken late in the race by his Mercedes teammate, and later claimed it was one of the worst races he had driven in his career.
According to the Planet F1 website, Hamilton said: It was a "really poor performance from myself. Some other things came into it yesterday, but mostly myself, and today was just one of the worst races that I've driven. Just lots of mistakes."

Tom Clarkson of the F1 Nation Podcast said: "He wanted to get the message out that 'George, you only overtake me when I'm having a really rubbish race.' That is how I read that."
Based on the results in 2024, Hamilton has been anywhere near Russell in terms of performance and finishes, with Russell beating Hamilton in six of the eight races they both finished in.
Before the Canadian Grand Prix, Hamilton's best finish of the year was P6. Russell had finished P6 or better in four other races previous to Montreal, including two fifth-place finishes.
According to the Formula One website, in the Drivers' Championship, Russell sits in seventh place on 69 points, while Lewis Hamilton sits in eighth on 55.
Based on finishes and points scored this season, is it safe to say George Russell is the better driver than Lewis Hamilton?
According to Essentially Sport, 15-year F1 veteran David Coulthard said: "He [Lewis Hamilton] hasn't adapted to the new car yet. You can see how George Russell is gradually honing the times on the lade, while it is evident how Lewis is in trouble."
For a driver of Lewis Hamiton's know-how and experience, is he finding it more difficult to adjust to the car than Russell, or at 39 years old, are his best days behind him?
