Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis' toughest fights in his career!

Gervonta Davis put the boxing world on notice last month, defeating Ryan Garcia with a brutal body shot in the seventh round.

His knockout victory over Garcia was his 29th win and his 27^th knockout of his career without a loss. The debate is now whether Davis is 'the best pound-for-pound fighter' in the world.

According to espn.com, speaking after the fight, Davis said: "I thought he was going to get up, but I like to play mind games, so when he was looking at me, I was looking at him trying to tell him, 'Get up,' and then he just shook his head, 'No.'"

After defeating up-and-coming star Ryan Garcia, let's look at Gervonta Davis's toughest matchups in the boxing ring.

On the 16^{th of} June 2021, Davis fought Mario Barrios for the WBA super-lightweight title. The pair were both 26, with Davis's record standing at 25-0 and Barrios's record at 26-0.

After a long bloody fight, Davis got the job done in the 11^th round after knocking Barrios down three times in the bout, Davis was about to do it again for a fourth time, but referee Thomas Taylor stopped the fight, winning the contest via TKO.

In January 2017, 'Tank' fought Puerto Rican boxer Jose Pedraza for his first world title, the IBF super-featherweight championship.

Aged 22, Davis secured his first world title belt, defeating Pedraza in the 7^th round via TKO. The win for Davis held his record at 18-0.

Gervonta Davis put on a clinic when he fought Panamanian boxer Ricardo Nunez in July 2019, defeating Nunez via 2^nd round TKO.

The American hit Nunez (21-2) with a sweet left hook midway through the second round, successfully defending his WBA super-featherweight title.

Gervonta Davis defended his IBF super-featherweight title, stopping Britain's Liam Walsh in the third round of the contest.

After a cagey opening two rounds, Davis unleashed unstoppable shots in the third, flooring the undefeated Walsh before referee Michael Alexander had to step in.

Davis defeated Hugo Ruiz at 2:59 of the first round, retaining the WBA super-featherweight championship on February 9^th, 2019.

The American didn't miss a beat in the three minutes in the ring, capping off the performance with a perfect right hook, knocking Ruiz to the ground.

Davis's greatest success in the ring came after fighting Leo Santa Cruz in October 2020. 'Tank' defeated the 37-1-1 boxer with the knockout of the year, hitting Santa Cruz with a vicious left-hand uppercut in the sixth round.
