Former UConn basketball player dramatically dead aged 28

Rakim Lubin, a former basketball player for the University of Connecticut and Cal State Northridge, has died aged 28.

The news comes via an online obituary written by Prestige Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory in Lubin’s home state of Alabama.

The obituary asks for everyone to, “keep this family and those that may be going through the same lifted in prayer.”

There has been no official cause of death, according to reports by The Daily Mail.

Lubin played for the UConn Huskies during the 2014-15 season, where he averaged one point and 1.2 rebounds per game.

According to the Hartford Current, Lubin earned the nickname 'Rock' due to his, “build and bruising style of play”.

Lubin followed his season in Connecticut by moving to Cal State Northridge to continue his basketball career.

According to Fox News, Lubin blossomed at Cal State Northridge, averaging over eight points and five rebounds a game.

Per The Daily Mail, Lubin moved again following his time at Cal State Northridge. This time to LSU-Shreveport, where he would complete his bachelor’s degree.

Exact details of Lubin’s family are unknown, but the obituary mentions he is “survived by his loving family.”
