Former FC Barcelona teammate makes crazy Messi revelation

Jean-Clair Todibo is one of the best defenders in Ligue 1 at the moment. The Frenchman established himself at OGC Nice, after a disappointing spell at FC Barcelona.

Todibo came to the Nou Camp in January 2019, when Barça bought him from Toulouse for a reported 1 million euro (Transfermarkt).

Todibo made just five appearances for Barça, which loaned him out to German side Schalke 04 about a year later.

Although his time at Barça did not go as expected, the defender still has vivid memories of his time in the Catalan capital.

In particular, Todibo recalls a special 'Messi rule' when he was playing for the Blaugrana.

"At Barcelona, we weren't allowed to touch Leo Messi in training," Todibo told the Ligue 1 Show. "It sounds crazy, but it's true. We had to be careful."

However, the defender completely understood Barça's caution with its former star player. "It's normal, he's the best, you don't want to hurt him."

After his loan spell at Schalke 04, Todibo was loaned out to Benfica and Nice, before the French bought him from Barcelona in mid-2021.

In France, Todibo has established himself as one of the Ligue 1's best defenders, with Nice conceding the fewest goals in the French top flight in early December 2023.
