Ex-Chelsea star has earned a staggering £150m since leaving Stamford Bridge

For three seasons in the Premier League, the Brazilian Oscar was a staple in some of Chelsea's best years under Rafael Benitez and Jose Mourinho in the Premier League.

During his first season with the Blues in 2012-13, Oscar was part of the team that won the Europa League. A couple of years later, when Jose Mourinho returned, he won the Premier League twice and a League Cup.

According to Transfermarkt, the Brazilian made 131 Premier League appearances for Chelsea, scoring 21 goals and providing 19 assists. In 2016, when Antonio Conte took over, Oscar's playing time became limited, and he made a shock move.

In 2017, the former Chelsea maestro joined Shanghai Port in the Chinese Super League when multiple high-profile players were flocking to the league in search of higher wages.

The Brazilian was joined by former Chelsea players John Obi-Mikel, Ramires, and Ricardo Carvalho. Players such as Hulk, Javier Mascherano, and Carlos Tevez switched to China around the same time.

According to Football London, the influx of foreign stars was short-lived, with rule changes coming in 2019 that stopped players from earning extravagantly high wages. However, Oscar signed a five-year extension before the rule change, pocketing himself £20m ($25m, €23m) a year.

The Daily Mail reports that Oscar is earning £400k (€460k, $500k) per week in Shanghai. With seven full seasons under his belt and halfway through 2024, the Brazilian has amassed £154m (€180m, $196m) in earnings since leaving Chelsea.

In an interview with Copa 90 in 2017, Oscar said: "All football players want to earn money to help their families. When I made the decision to come [to China], I was thinking more of my family than of my career."

Staying in China has ruined his international career with Brazil, having not played for the national team since 2015. Despite that, the attacker has made 48 appearances for Brazil and scored 12 goals.

At Shanghai Port, Oscar has won the Chinese Super League twice and the Chinese FA Cup once. He has played 157 league games, scored 48 goals, and provided 99 assists.
