The footballing landscape is changing, and the market value for players has skyrocketed over the last 20 years.
England has the most players represented in the top ten of the list, having three elite stars worth millions and still on lengthy contracts.
Here are the top ten male footballers by estimated value in 2024. This list is according to the CIES Football Observatory, and the stats are credited to Transfermarkt.

Real Madrid and England superstar Jude Bellingham is the most highly valued player in the world at 268 million euros ($291m US, £229m) scoring 18 goals in 26 games for Madrid, and only 20 years old. Bellingham is still under contract until 2029, as reported by CIES.
Erling Haaland set the Premier League alight last season, scoring 36 goals in 35 Premier League games and 12 in the Champions League. With three years left on his deal, he is the second most expensive player in the world.
Bellingham's teammate Vinicius Junior has stepped into the role as the world's best winger for Real Madrid, and his value matches that. According to Transfermarkt, the Brazilian has provided ten goals and four assists in 18 games.
23-year-old Rodrygo completes the Real Madrid trio alongside Bellingham and Vinicius and has seen value rise along with his responsibility on the pitch. Givemesport.com reported that after an 11-game cold streak, the Brazilian has seven goals and four assists in LaLiga.
Arsenal star boy Bukayo Saka has been tearing up the Premier League for a couple of years now, and since signing his four-year deal last year, his valuation has skyrocketed. He's been Arsenal's best performer this season, grabbing nine goals and 12 assists.
Manchester City's Phil Foden has gone from strength to strength under Pep Guardiola but falls just under the 200 million mark, as reported by CIES Football Observatory. Foden has already played 200 games and won 16 trophies.
Spanish maestro Gavi is just another one of the extraordinary players FC Barcelona has produced in recent years. Aged 19, the Spanish star has already made over 100 appearances for the Catalan club and helped them win La Liga in 2023.
According to Transfermarkt, Julián Álvarez has scored 13 goals and got ten assists so far this season, helping climb into the top ten after completing the quadruple last season, winning the Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League, and World Cup.
Bayern Munich's Jamal Musiala is one of the best technical players in the world, and according to givemesport.com, he has scored 36 goals and 26 assists in 143 appearances. Being so young, the German is in the top ten.
The final player on the list is Martin Odegaard, the captain who has helped transform Arsenal into a Champions League and Premier League contender. The Norwegian is worth over 151 million euros after being bought for 30 million in 2021, according to CIES.
