These women will go down in football history

She is considered the best soccer player in history, and this is not surprising considering she has won the FIFA World Player five years in a row (from 2006 to 2010), two Olympic silver medals (2004 and 2008) and the Ballon d'Or (2010).

The Rio de Janeiro player is famous for her artistry with the ball at her feet.

A two-time Player of the Year, Carli Lloyd is known for always turning up at important moments. She scored goals in the 2008 and 2012 Olympic finals, and a hat-trick in the 2015 World Cup final against Japan. She has scored 100 goals in 257 caps.

She is a veteran of the USA national team and one of the best ambassadors of modern soccer. Morgan made her debut with the US national team at age 22, and she was a runner-up in the 2011 World Cup. She scored the winning goal in the semi-finals of the 2012 London Olympic Games in the 123rd minute against Canada. The forward also won the 2015 World Cup.

She is the only player, along with the Brazilian Formiga, to have participated in six World Cups.  She led Japan to win the 2011 World Cup, where she won the Ballon d'Or and the Golden Boot. As a result, she was voted Player of the Year by FIFA. Despite being a midfielder, Homare Sawa scored 83 goals in 205 games for her national team.

Quick, agile and smart, Hope Solo was out of this world in goal. The security she provided at the back was key to the USA team's success. She is officially considered the Best Goalkeeper in History.

She was the youngest footballer to make her Bundesliga debut and the earliest to score a goal in the German league, at 15 years and 4 months old. She is now a key player for the German national team. She has played in Lyon since 2016 where she has claimed the Best Player of the Season Award for three consecutive years.

Nadine Angerer has a curious story: she began playing as a midfielder, only to end up being the best goalkeeper in the history of Germany. World Champion in 2003 and 2007, she has also won four European Cups (2001, 2005, 2009 and 2013). In 2013 she was named Player of the Year.

Sydney is a dual American-Canadian citizen, and the forward now plays for Orland Pride. Along the way, she has had two children and has represented Canada at U-20 level and the USA at senior level. She won the 2008 World Cup, along with the Golden Boot and the Golden Ball.

She is the top scorer in the history of the USA, with 183 goals in 249 games. She was world champion in 2015 and Olympic champion in 2012. In addition, she scored 14 goals in the four world championships she played.

They say that Lotta Schelin was always worth the entrance fee. She was a wonderful player who made Swedish football a subject of national interest. She was dubbed the 'female Zlatan' at her peak.

Lotta Schelin won three Champions League titles with Lyon, and she finished her career FC Rosengård.

She was known as 'the Pele of women's soccer2, a true pioneer and key piece in the successes of the USA national team, in which she played for 17 years. A two-time World Champion (1991 and 1999), she also has two Olympic golds (1996 and 2004). She has the honour of being the first woman to be inducted into the World Soccer Hall of Fame in Pachuca, Mexico.

She is one of the best footballers in history and a legend with the German national team; she debuted at the age of 16. She won the World Cup in 2003 and 2007, the European Cup five times (1995, 1997, 2001, 2005 and 2009) and took the FIFA World Player in 2003.

Sun Wen is the best soccer player in the history of China and the top scorer for her national team. She scored 106 goals in 152 games. In 2000, she won the Best Player of the 20th Century Award and also won the Ballon d'Or and the Golden Boot at the 1999 World Cup.

Christine Sinclair has 265 caps and 173 goals and aims to continue scoring many more for Canada. She has been in the national team for almost two decades, and she has been a nominee for Best Player in the World six times.

Pearce is considered the best defender in the history of women's football, and she finished her career in 2017 with Sky Blue FC. During her distinguished career, she represented the USA in five World Cups - in her last appearance in 2015, she became the oldest ever player in the history of the World Cup - and four Olympic Games.
