NBA Eastern Conference All-Star roster predictions
One of the most exciting stretches of the year for NBA fans are the weeks leading up to the All-Star Game. There’s spirited debate about which players should be recognized as starters, and which should be selected to the roster in the first place. We’ll take a stab at filling out the team for the Eastern Conference ahead of the league’s announcements in late January and early February.
He’s shown flashes of greatness in the past, but the Indiana Pacers guard has been one of the best players in the NBA this season. Haliburton leads the league in assists, serving as the unquestioned engine of one of the most entertaining teams this season. He’s dealing with a hamstring injury, but should make it back in time for the All Star game if there are no setbacks.
On name value alone, the Milwaukee Bucks’ prized offseason acquisition should be an All Star starter for the Eastern Conference. Lillard’s numbers are down ever so slightly as he adjusts to life on a championship contender, but his impact when it comes to spacing the floor cannot be understated. He’s also a lot of fun to watch in an All-Star Game setting.

Lillard’s Bucks teammate should also join him as a no-brainer starter. Antetokounmpo is one of the best players in the game, and will likely be an All Star starter throughout the prime of his career. The perennial MVP candidate has been as dominant as ever, as he looks to get Milwaukee back to the mountain top.
He’s one of the most versatile scorers in the NBA, which is something Boston Celtics fans are privileged to watch on a nightly basis. Tatum is on pace to set a career best in field goal percentage, which is impressive considering the array of difficult shots he takes and makes throughout the year.
The remaining starting spot also isn’t up for much debate, as Embiid almost has to round out the frontcourt. He’s averaging nearly 35 points per game this season, which is a stunning statement after the MVP campaign he posted last year. Fans are fortunate to watch the big man dominate in his prime.

Knicks fans and basketball enthusiasts alike were flabbergasted last year when Brunson did not make the All Star team. However, another campaign featuring strong statistics and clutch baskets has him in line to get the nod this season. Brunson’s offensive arsenal at his diminutive size is something to behold.
The 76ers have been engulfed with drama in each of the last two seasons, but Maxey’s refreshing presence has helped them turn the page on the James Harden era. He genuinely enjoys being out on the floor, and has taken the next step as an All-Star candidate in his fourth NBA season.
For now, it appears like the Miami Heat are actively playing their top guys during the regular season, which is a boost for Butler’s All Star prospects. He showed just how special he is in the postseason the last two years, and deserves to be on the team for the intangibles that he brings night in and night out.

He was handsomely rewarded with a record-setting extension in the offseason, and Brown has returned the favor in Boston by continuing his stellar two-way play. He and Tatum arguably form the most potent duo in the NBA, and the pair has the Celtics near the very top of the league from a wins and losses perspective.
Adebayo probably can’t afford to miss another significant stretch of time before the All Star game in order to make the team, but he should be able to secure a spot if his health cooperates. The Heat have patched their frontcourt together around and behind Adebayo, but the responsibility has allowed him to become one of the best at his position.
Cleveland has been beset by serious injuries during the first half of the season, leaving their star-studded lineup in shambles. Mitchell has had to make up for the absences of Darius Garland and Evan Mobley, and has done a great job. The Cavaliers are still very much in the mix for a strong seed in the East thanks to his contributions.
There are a lot of players who have an argument to qualify for the team in the final slot. Perhaps the league might want to reward the Orlando Magic’s resurgent campaign by selecting Paolo Banchero here. However, Randle has been tremendous for the New York Knicks this season, bringing energy and production on a nightly basis.
