Man City boss goes into 'emergency' surgery
Man City boss Pep Guardiola has undergone surgery in Barcelona and is set to miss at least two games.
According to a report by the BBC, Pep was suffering from “severe” back pain causing the need for an operation.
Per Sky Sports, the Spaniard has been struggling with a bad back for some time now, but it has reached a tipping point.
The pain had got to the point that Guardiola booked himself a flight to Barcelona to undergo an “emergency” surgery.
According to a statement by Manchester City, the operation was just “minor” and was successful in relieving the Cityzens’ boss of his pain.
Per the statement released by the Manchester club, Pep is set to, “recover and rehabilitate in Barcelona.”
Due to the surgery and the recovery process, the treble-winning manager is set to miss at least two games, with the Sky Blues hoping he will, “return after the forthcoming international break.”
In Pep’s absence, assistant manager Juanma Lillo is set to take charge of training and match preparation.
Pep Guardiola is recognized as one of the very best managers in the world and his presence on the sideline will surely be missed by his players.
Whilst there is never a great time to have back surgery, Pep has timed it well with his side facing the recently promoted Sheffield United and Fulham during his absence, teams his side should be able to handle even without his presence.
