Donna Martin in 'Beverly Hills, 90210'

This '90s nepo baby, daughter of producer Aaron Spelling, found stardom as Donna Martin on ‘Beverly Hills, 90210.’ It was a role almost tailored to who she was and was one of the most popular shows of its time.

From 90210 to a mobile home

What happened? As Spelling as shared, she now lives in an RV with her five children. How could a star of her magnitude end up in such a situation? There's always a story behind the headlines.

She lived in one of LA's biggest mansions

It's shocking when you remember that Spelling once lived in the lap of utmost luxury. Let's not forget her childhood home, The Manor, one of LA's most lavish estates boasting a staggering 123 rooms.

A mansion so vast she hadn’t seen it all

The home was so expansive that Spelling admitted on Jennie Garth's podcast (a close friend and colleague) that she never even saw all the rooms. Among its features were a 300-seat cinema, a theater, and even a gift-wrapping room.

Another home, another twist in her tale

Ironically, it was another home that led to her life in an RV. The Los Angeles home where she spent years with her kids and her second husband, Canadian Dean McDermott, turned out to be a burden. “This house has been slowly killing us for three years,” she shared on social media.

Her kids were extremely sick

She revealed on her Instagram in May that her children had been "on this continual spiral of sickness for months." " Used to think… well that’s what happens when you have young kids in school. They just continually bring sicknesses home. But, when it gets to the point where they are at home sick more than being in school we had to reassess what was going on."

The culprit: extreme mold

She said her youngest kids, ages 6 and 10, were so sick they were sleeping all day and having dizzy spells, along with getting rashes and other allergy-like symptoms. She said she discovered it was all because of "extreme mold" in their home. The house was labeled a health hazard and they moved out ASAP.

From a motel to an RV

Initially, Spelling's solution was to relocate her family to a California motel, costing her a hundred dollars per day. However, they soon transitioned to an RV – specifically a classic Sunseeker E450, parked on a cliffside in Ventura, northeast Los Angeles.

Where's her inheritance?

Many may wonder how Tori, the daughter of Aaron Spelling – the legendary creator behind hit shows like ‘Dynasty,’ ‘Charlie's Angels,’ ‘Starsky & Hutch,’ and ‘The Love Boat,’ and one of the wealthiest men in American TV, with an estimated worth of around $500 million – ended up in such straits.

Most of Aaron Spelling's fortune went to Candy Spelling

The truth is, after the producer died in 2006, both Tori and her brother Randy inherited a mere fraction of his wealth, roughly $800,000. The majority went to their mother, Candy Spelling.

Tori’s lavish spending habits

Candy Spelling, in a New York Times interview, insinuated that Tori had a penchant for extravagance, leading her father to entrust his massive estate's management to his wife, Candy. “I love my daughter and I support her in whatever she does. I support my daughter. Of course, I will [help her financially], I will always be there for her," she told TMZ in June.

Candy would have helped her daughter and grandchildren, according to reports

Candy, who has a reported net worth of $600 million, was willing to assist her daughter and grandchildren, according to Page Six. However, Tori chose to brave her situation alone in the RV with her five kids.

Candy Spelling learned of her daughter's situation through the media

While the mother-daughter duo's relationship has publicly faced its ups and downs, a source told Page Six that Candy Spelling would under no circumstances allow her daughter to live in a mobile home and only learned that she was living in an RV through the media.

A cry for attention?

This has led some to speculate that Tori might be courting the sensationalist media. After all, she grew up under intense public scrutiny and, by her own admission, cannot imagine life outside the limelight.

An attention addict

"I couldn't bear not getting attention... This is the only life I know. Look, when photographers chase me, I hate it. I wish I could be normal, and calmly take my kids to school. But if no one ever took my picture again, if I never appeared on TV... it would be really tough," she told the Spanish magazine ICON in 2022. This was during her covert visit to Spain to film her appearance on 'Mask Singer.'

More of a celebrity than an actress

This shift has seen Tori Spelling transition from her acting career to embrace her role as a celebrity and reality TV star more prominently.

End of her marriage to Dean McDermott

It's undeniable that recent times haven't been kind to her, both financially and emotionally. A significant factor has been her split from Dean McDermott, which was announced in the summer of 2023. In November, he told the Daily Mail he hadn't seen his kids in five months due to his addiction issues.

18 years of matrimony

"It's with great sadness and a very very heavy heart that after 18 years together and 5 amazing children, that @torispelling and I have decided to go our separate ways, and start a new journey of our own," the actor announced on social media.

The reason for the split

Rumors from outlets like Radar Online hinted that the Canadian actor's s e x addiction and cheating might have been to blame. He was treated for it in 2014 and Tori Spelling had discussed it. But he later told the Daily Mail that his nheavy drinking led to the split.

Financial troubles and possible return to TV

After the split, the actress has also been experiencing financial difficulties, according to media reports. The Daily Mail reported she was in talks to be in the upcoming season of 'Dancing with the Stars' to help make some money.

Selling dishes and other products on TV

In Sept 2023, she came out with a new way to make some cash - a line of dishware she is marketing with Jennie Garth. They were selling it on the home shopping network QVC. On Instagram she has also been selling toys and blankets... and also hosting on QVC.

"She is a survivor of everything"

Despite her recent struggles, her mom Candy told Fox News in Feb 2024 that Tori was "as well as could be expected." She is a survivor of everything," she said, adding that the whole family was "doing great."
