Known as Remi Enigma, this French photographer was known worldwide for his pictures at the top of the tallest buildings on the planet.

One of those tall buildings, the Tregunter Tower complex in Hong Kong, would become the end of the photographer. It is 220 meters (721,7 ft) high.

Didn't get past the 68th floor

Remi Enigma was in the middle of climbing the skyscraper when he fell from the 68th floor and died instantly.

A deadly accident

The South China Morning Post (SCMP) collected statements from some witnesses to the fatal accident.

What happened?

A domestic employee of one of the homes in the building saw Remi Enigma in the window. They called the police for help, the SCMP reports.

Trapped outside

This witness claimed that the photographer appeared to be trapped in the outer area of the skyscraper while trying to climb to its highest point.

Did not reach his goal

As confirmed by the witness, in the time that passed between the emergency call and the arrival of the police, Remi Enigma slipped and fell from the 68th floor.

He had sneaked into the complex

The New York Post gave another perspective to the story after speaking with a security guard. Remi Enigma had told the guard that he was going to see a friend on the 40th floor. In this version of events, he had therefore not gotten permission to mount the building.

Guard pursued him

After contacting the resident on the 40th flour and finding out that he did not know the photographer, the guard tried to stop Remi Enigma but he had already slipped into the elevator, the New York Post reported.

Elevator to the 48th floor

According to the New York Post, the security images show Remi Enigma reaching the 48th floor by elevator and then using the stairs to reach the top.

What happened between the 48th and the 68th floor?

Security personnel confirm that the hatch leading to the highest area of the building was open. Yet, they could not locate the photographer.

His camera does not clarify what happened

The police found Remi Enigma's sports camera and are investigating if there's any clue on it as to what happened. However, it did not give any new information.

Trapped outside

They suspect that the photographer got trapped outside the skyscraper and fell down while knocking on the window and calling for help.
