2022 in photos: the MET Gala - its best and worst outfits
In May, the annual MET Gala took place, a Costume Institute exhibition celebrated with an evening themed 'In America: An Anthology of Fashion.' The event once again became a showcase for the most fascinating (or hilarious) looks. For starters, here we see the Spanish Rosalía alongside Bella Hadid.
The then-couple Pete Davison and Kim Kardashian were openly posing on the red carpet without any signs of shyness. At first sight, neither of them seemed dressed up to the expected standard of a MET Gala.
After a second look, we saw that Kardashian was wearing an original Marilyn Monroe dress (the one she wore when she sang 'Happy Birthday, Mr. President' to JFK). She damaged the historic artifact in the process. A big scandal!
A dazzling white Yves Saint-Laurent dress for Hailey Bieber. With sheer black tights.
And we couldn't resist showing the reverse side of Hailey Bieber's whopping throw as it bellows, creating quite an effect.
The singer Rosalía showed off her Spanish culture, but with a French signature look: Givenchy. The attitude, the hairstyle and other details made all the difference.
A super-perfect couple. They also have true synergy when it comes to choosing a look: Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively. Her dress, by Versace, was spectacular and with a surprising detail...
The co-chair of the Met Gala did not disappoint. The beautiful bow came undone to change the dress completely. According to Elle, Lively said 'this is the constellation of Grand central station'. Her bodice was inspired by the Empire State Building while the draping and crown by the Statue of Liberty.
The over-the-top performer that is Billie Eilish was able to really show off her personality at the MET Gala with a bold Gucci look.
Kylie Jenner came casually dressed as a bride (Off-White gown) and her sister, Kendall Jenner, gave us a black replica.
The model and stunning daughter of Cindy Crawford looked spectacular. Kaia Gerber wore a fabulous Alexander McQueen number.
A theatrical and spectacular design by Versace for the charismatic Gigi Hadid.
Is Emma Stone's Louis Vuitton gown enough for a MET Gala? Maybe it came in a little short.
Both are stylish: the Versace jumpsuit (with fringes) worn by Dakota Johnson stands out. She also looked quite spectacular at the Oscars this year.
In the company of so much sophistication, Irina Shayk in black leather (by Burberry) is a little disconcerting.
The grand dame of Vogue wore Chanel. As perfect as it gets.
Right up the 'MET alley' - this design shown by Camila Cabello pulls out all the stops.
The iconic Emily Ratajkowski was colourful and casual in a vintage Versace design.
Two of the most creative looks of the evening. Winnie Harlow looked especially extravagant in her Iris van Herpen design.
Another handsome moment of the evening. Cynthia Erivo's dress is by Louis Vuitton.
Here are two great women. Jessica Chastain wore one of the most talked about looks of the night: Gucci with a retro feel. Fabulous or... or not? Of course, absolutely appropriate for a gala where the important thing is to make a statement.
The former 'it-girl' dressed to perfection for her style, figure and tone. She wore a Christian Siriano design. Good, but perhaps a little boring?
The fantastic Amy Schummer wore a black Chloé dress. Her personality, however, is enough for this lady to shine.
Louisa Jacobson turned up with an outfit that certainly turned heads. A lot going on. Not a lot going on under.
Bad bunny... looks 'bad?
Indian business woman, Natasha Poonawalla nailed the 'Gilded Glamour' theme. The house of Schiaparelli made the bustier and it was adorned with a saree and embellished jewellery by Indian designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee.
