Rihanna, Madonna, Ronaldo: celebrity homes on display in 2020
Rihanna, Madonna, the Biebers, Ronaldo, and the Fresh Prince of Bel Air: they all had their houses open for buyers or tenants this year. Let's revisit the wildly luxurious mansions the stars showed us in 2020.
Rihanna put her beautiful Hollywood mansion up for sale in a hurry, media like TMZ and People reported, because she had gotten too scared to live in it. The reason were two attempts to burglar the place in Hollywood Hills. Rihanna wasn't home when it happened, but she's spooked by the house anyway.
With over 7534 square feet (700 square meters), not counting all the land surrounding the property, this mansion entered the market for 7 million dollars. It has six fully equipped bedrooms, a guest house in the garden area, and an impressive swimming pool.
Rihanna is leaving all her furniture behind. For example in this living room, a space around which the entire property was built. It has a fireplace for the coldest days, a large piano to spend a romantic evening and an interior design halfway between classic and modern.
Rihanna's old Hollywood mansion also has a great salon to receive guests. The singer, who is considered one of the world's richest artists, surely held more than one party in this room. Like this one, all the rooms were decorated in harmonious cold and warm colors, bathing in the natural light that enters through the many windows.
Before she fled the neighborhood, Rihanna probably had cinema sessions with her friends at home. Because, of course, the mansion also has a private movie theater.
Here's the story of how Rihanna became one of the richest artists in the world
Without a doubt, though, the crown jewel of Rihanna's house is the magnificent swimming pool. Surrounded by plants and rooms designed for relaxation, the pool was one of Rihanna's favorite places in this mansion.
Do you know who also gave us a sneak peek into their home? The Banks family from the Fresh Prince of Bel Air. In October 2020, they put the house (or parts of it) up for rent.
Actually, this building is located in Brentwood, Los Angeles, and it was only the exterior of the house in the series. Its spectacular entrance with columns is iconic, though, and it's part of TV history.
One day, Donald Trump came to the house and tried to buy it - in the series. But the family decided not to sell.
In 2020, the place did have the option of renting, however. In October the mansion opened as the Fresh Prince's "Bel Airbnb." Its guests could sleep in Will Smith's room, supplied with the tennis shoes the actor wore in the series, and access one full wing of the mansion, its garden, and its swimming pool.
This space includes the living room and the legendary dining room in which Hilary gave the world one of the best moments in the history of television (barking at her food in the episode 'Knowledge is Power').
To make the stay as immersive as possible, the access area will have vintage elements from the early 90s. From a music device in which to listen rap cassettes to the shoes of the time or some of the hats that Will Smith wore throughout the six seasons.
The AirBnB project in October was launched for charity. Everyone involved made a donation to the local Boys & Girls Club of Philadelphia, a program that supports youth with difficulties and helps them get an education for the future. This way, there was a connection between Bel Air and West Philadelphia, where the Fresh Prince was born and raised.
Did you see the new mansion of showbiz' hottest couple Hailey Baldwin and Justin Bieber? They have been married since November 2018 and were looking for a new place. In 2020, they found it. And besides being spectacular, this house also has a history: it used to be Madonna's mansion!
Built in 1968, it's truly a dream house. It lies in Beverly Hills, California, on a terrain of 43,000 square feet (4,000 square meters). The main residence is 5,700 square feet (530 square meters) in size, but there are also guest houses available.
The enormous residence used to belong to no one less than Madonna. She bought it in 2002 for 12 million dollars. For ten years, she enjoyed the house and its amenities. Then, in 2013, she sold the place for 19.5 million dollars. Not a bad deal Madonna!
Seven years later, by the time the Biebers bought it, the house had increased more than ten million dollars in price. In 2020, Justin and Hailey paid 33.5 dollars for this mansion.
The mansion has 8 en-suite bedrooms and up to 14 bathrooms. In addition to the bedrooms and bathrooms there are several living rooms, lounges, dining rooms and a huge and modern kitchen.
In all the rooms you can see that a good amount of natural light comes in.
If natural light from the side windows is lacking, the couple can pull the light from the seven chimneys that are distributed throughout the house.
Imagine the Biebers sleeping here. It is possible because the realtor published photos of the house before they bought it.
The swimming pool area has a spa zone and tennis court. It requires no explanation that Justin and Hailey Bieber love sports.
Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the best and richest soccer players in the world. He was even declared Player of the 21st Century in December 2020. Earlier in the year, the millionaire footballer gave us the opportunity to see how he and his family like to live. The house where they spent their quarantine in the spring was put up for rent directly afterwards, furnished and all.
The Portuguese footballer has his headquarters on the archipelago of Madeira in his home country. There he lives with quite a few people. Besides his wife Georgina Rodriguez and her four children, there's his mother, his siblings, and their families with nephews and nieces, all together. When the pandemic struck Portugal, the family decided to spend their lockdown in this giant village in the town of Caniçal.
A big family, you say? Yes, it is. But seeing the mansion, there is no doubt that it has plenty of room for everyone. We are talking about six double rooms spread over three floors, so that each of the Ronaldo families (his own, his sister Elma's, and his brother Hugo's family) had their own space.
In addition to the six rooms and 7.5 bathrooms, the mansion has lots of space on the outside. A big porch, a terrace, a garden, and direct access to the beach.
Aside from the non-negotiable gym, the house has a play area as well. It includes a pool table.
Cristiano Ronaldo came a long way, from a poor boy to the world's richest footballer
This fantastic place not only has all the luxurious amenities a millionaire would want, but also a spectacular view on the Atlantic Ocean. In about 600 steps you can reach the sea through the mansion's private access path. A nice alternative is the XXL swimming pool.
So what does it cost to rent the mansion Ronaldo spent his lockdown in? Well, here's the biggest surprise. Even though the rental prices fluctuate a lot, depending on the season, this place costs about 4,000 euros (5,000 dollars) per week. That's really not much for the experience of Ronaldo's family in a vacation or quarantine.
