Nicole Kidman at the 2021 Golden Globes

Australian actress Nicole Kidman and her husband Keith Urban gave a rare view into their family lives. They appeared at the remote Golden Globes gala with their children. It was one of the highlights of the evening.

Highlights of the Golden Globes 2021

The Golden Globes of 2021 were not the same as usual. Instead of a red carpet, we saw the stars of Hollywood posing with their outfits and hairdos from the intimacy of their homes. In addition, the remote award sessions did not always go perfectly due to technical issues. Despite all that, there are still a lot of highlights to remember.

Regina King

Regina King was trending on Twitter long after the show was over. Or, we should say, it was her dog! The director, nominated for the movie 'One Night in Miami,' appeared at the pre-show interview in a fantastic, glimmering Louis Vuitton gown. The pet behind her, though, couldn't be bothered. He installed himself onto his cushion for a nap in the middle of the interview.

An unusual live show

Regina King's dog could attend the Golden Globes gala because it was, in large part, virtual. Zuri Hal and Sofia Carson, the preview host, used video calls on the big screen to talk to the stars of the Golden Globes. It may have seemed more glamorous than remote working in our own houses, but continued to be plain and simple teleworking.

Sarah Paulson

The actress nominated for her ice-cold Nurse Ratched in the Netflix miniseries had an accident before the gala. She and Prada solved the issue of the cast on her arm very elegantly. It may have been the first ever custom Prada cast. E!Online awarded it a Golden Globe for Best Accessory.

Anya Taylor-Joy

She was nominated in two categories and won the Golden Globe for her leading role in 'The Queen's Gambit.' Anya Taylor-Joy had her hair beautifully long and wore a green gown that was the pride of Dior.

Jason Sudeikis

Also very interesting was the hoodie that Jason Sudeikis wore when he accepted his award for Best Actor in a Television Musical or Comedy series for his role in 'Ted Lasso.' Some commenters on Twitter said he looked "extremely divorced" after his wife Olivia Wilde had left him.

A pandemic vibe

Others said he had the ultimate "pandemic vibe" that is so recognizable in a covid-era Zoom call. Saying "Can I talk now?" and thinking "not sure why I'm here" were great ways to describe the way in which Sudeikis accepted his Golden Globe.

Julia Garner

Extremely different was the look of Julia Garner, nominated for her role in 'Ozark.' Makeup artist Hung Vanngo proudly displayed their work on Instagram, combined with a classic Prada dress and glamorous curls. She was one of the winners of the evening - in fashion.

Jared Leto

But there were more fashion icons at the Golden Globes. Let no one forget that this gentleman is turning 50, despite the fact that with a simple sweater and the most envied hair in Hollywood he looks like a youngster of the Tik Tok generation. Jared Leto was totally ready to hear whether he won the Globe for Best Supporting Actor in 'The Little Things'.

Kaley Cuoco

After playing Penny for 12 years on 'The Big Bang Theory', Kaley Cuoco couldn't have made a better start to her new adventure with 'The Flight Attendant'. Her Cassandra Bowen earned her a nomination for Best Actress in its first season - a perfect excuse to show off this beautiful dress, even if it is by the pool of her mansion. Spectacular.

Christian Slater

He's one of the few celebrities who chose to appear in person at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.

Andra Day

Best Actress in a Drama and Best Song for 'Tigress & Tweed'. Andra Day's performance in 'The United States vs Billie Holliday' couldn't be more successful. Of course, she dressed for the occasion.

Tina Fey

The funny host returns to take the reins of the gala, accompanied by her inseparable friend Amy Poehler. Both have opted for rigorous black during the preview and the gala.

Separate but together

One of the scenes of the evening was the moment when the real distance between Amy Poehler and Tina Fey was eliminated by the magic of television. The moment of the caress was superb.

Justin Theroux

Please, let's have Justin Theroux at all the galas and awards shows in the coming years. Since he is not nominated, we allow ourselves to recommend 'The Leftovers' (HBO), a series that hits you in the stomach and heart at the same time.

Bob Odenkirk

His Saul Goodman is television history, both in 'Breaking Bad' and 'Better Call Saul', the series for which he is nominated. Now, check out his historic pre-gala photo.

Jodie Foster

For many, the Golden Globes were a family affair this year. Here we see Jodie Foster with her wife Alexandra Hedison and their dog while she accepts the award for best supporting actress in a motion picture for 'The Mauritanian'.

Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas

Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones presented a segment together, and so did another married celebrity couple, Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon.

Chadwick Boseman

And then there was the great void of a missing awardee, Chadwick Boseman. While shooting his last film, 'Ma Rainey's Black Bottom,' in a star cast led by Viola Davis, he had already been very ill from his advanced colon cancer. Posthumously, Boseman was granted the award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture.

His wife Simone Ledward Boseman

Chadwick Boseman had passed away in August 2020 at the age of 43. Tearfully, his wife Simone accepted the Golden Globe on his behalf.

Dan Levy

Meanwhile, fashion statements were made all over the place. As 'Schitt's Creek' continues to rule the world, Dan Levy proved once again that he is a fashion icon with this spectacular look.

Shira Haas

Israeli actress Shira Haas was nominated for her role in the miniseries 'Unorthodox.' She wore a beautiful Chanel dress and necklace. To Elle, she confided before the gala: "The sun is about to go down and the show is about to begin. I am taking in the last few seconds and starting to feel the butterflies before the show."

Health workers at the Beverly Hilton

With distance, masks and their best clothes, the health workers who have been fighting the pandemic for a year were represented at the Golden Globes by a lucky few who were able to see it live.

Tracy Morgan

There were so few guests at the in-person gala that Tracy Morgan was able to do an extensive photo shoot during the red carpet photo call. We are only going to show you this photo. Why? Because it's so cool.

Once upon a time, 10 years ago...

January Jones and Kiernan Shipka attended the Golden Globes gala 10 years ago looking fabulous. 'Mad Men' was one of the series of the moment in 2011 and the actresses gave life to Betty and Sally Draper. But why are we looking at this photo now? Read on and you'll see what a laugh.

Re-using the dress

Kiernan Shipka was 11 years old a decade ago. Now, at 21 and maintaining her star status, she has decided to wear the same dress she wore to that 2011 gala. Yes, it still fits, though it's a little tight.

January Jones as well!

The funny thing is that January Jones has also participated in this nice initiative. The actress confessed on Instagram that she still fits her dress "more or less." Either way, they became two big stars of the 2021 gala, even though neither of them has a nomination.

Kate Hudson

It's difficult to see Kate Hudson on screen and not be reminded of her mother, Goldie Hawn. They are two peas in a pod. But mind you, only the daughter got a nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role in a Comedy or Musical this year. It was for 'Music'.

Laura Pausini

If anyone wants to see what euphoria is like after winning a Golden Globe, go to Laura Pausini's Twitter profile. The Italian singer gave voice to 'Io Sí (Seen)' and won the award for Best Song. An award that she crowned with this spectacular red Maison Valentino.

Memories of an unforgettable year

Ana de Armas was not nominated at the 2021 Golden Globes, but she wanted to revisit her losing battle from the 2020 gala in an Instagram post. A nominee for Best Actress in 'Knives Out', she saw Awkwafina take the prize. Still, Ana de Armas got a lot of praise for her beautiful blue Ralph & Russo dress. To remember that positive moment, she shared five photos of her 'making of' on the evening of the 2021 Globes.
