Photos: the best (and worst) looks at King Charles' Coronation

Royals, celebrities, politicians and entrepreneurs from all over the world joined in celebrating the coronation of King Charles III and his wife, Queen Camilla. Up to 2000 guests attended the ceremony so there were a lot of fashion highs and lows from the event. Some outfits didn't quite cut it, but others hit every note - like that of Pippa Middleton.

The Princess of Wales' sister, Pippa, was seasonal in a sunny yellow coat dress, made by Claire Mischevani. The headpiece Pippa chose was also lemon yellow, designed by Jane Taylor. She was all smiles as she entered Westminster Abbey with her brother, James, also dapper in a contrasting three-piece suit.

The senior members of the British Royal family honoured the serenity of the event in white gowns. Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh wore a bespoke floor length cream gown with gorgeous floral embroidery by Suzannah London. Although mostly covered by the ceremonial cape, this dress featured a beautiful hand embroidered train inspired by gowns and regalia from the Queen’s Coronation in 1953.

Lady Louise is always a delight to watch at Royal events. The teenage royal has grown up in the public eye and was a strong favourite of the Late Queen Elizabeth. The King’s niece attended with her family in an appropriate, springtime floral dress by Suzannah London.

Of course, the King and Queen herself need mentioning. Charles, regal as ever saw a good few costumes changes throughout the coronation. Queen Camilla remained in her gold and white couture gown from designer Bruce Oldfield. Details yet simple - very apt for the occasion,

Katy Perry, arriving with British Vogue’s Edward Enninful, looked very well! She wore a custom Vivienne Westwood bespoke lilac short-sleeved jacket and matching skirt. The international singer chose a three-strand pearl choker necklace by the designer, seemingly paying homage to Her late Majesty.

Lumley really did look 'Absolutely Fabulous'. The actress contrasted a navy blue coat dress with cream collar and hat, looking very British. She was also on hand to do some presenting for SkyNews.

Queen Letizia is known as one of the best-dressed royals in the world. She arrived in a bold pink, made by Venezuelan-American designer, Carolina Herrera, who she wears often at public events. We love the domed hat best of all - very original and elegant.

Possible the only in attendance who went for a floor-length gown. All the same, we are inspired by The Queen of Lesotho's regal blue gown with its unique neckline and shoulder cut. She complimented it with a feathered headpiece and matching white clutch.

Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands, who wore a morning suit, was joined by Queen Máxima in a white dress by Jantaminiau. Whilst we aren't too sure on the cut and belt pull, we do appreciate the with foral cut out neckline her Philip Treacy hat.

Full marks - for the upperhalf of this royal's outfit. The detailed design around her cape was delicate and dainty. Yet, the shiny platform sandals don't quite give off the same daintiness.

Yes to the dress from Queen Rania, who opted for a light yellow custom Tamara Ralph number. We also applaud her Jimmy Choo matching heels. However, the Queen of Jordan went a little heavy on the makeup and certainly looked more natural the night before at the reception at Buckingham palace.

Another royal splash of colour - this time, royal purple. Accompanied by the Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark in military uniform, Mary, Crown Princess wore a deep purple dress coat by Soren Le Schmidt. The jewellery she wore had been reworked into the gorgeous earrings and brooch using jewels her mother-in-law Queen Margrethe gave her.

Mswati III, King of Eswatini arrive in formal dress alongside Inkhosikati LaMbikiza who needs a special mention for her outfit at the event. With ruffles, jewels and sheets upon sheets of sheer fabric, the dress certainly stood out.

The Greek royal family were always going to be important for this historic event, with the King's father born Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark. Marie-Chantal of Greece looked fresh in a custom Mary Katrantzou gown with bow detail at the shoulder. Queen Anne-Marie was wearing custom Celia Kritharioti.

Princess Charlene works the sweeping skirt suit look so well and she did not fail to impress with her modern outfit at the coronation.

The daughter of Anne, Princess Royal, (AKA Zara Phillips) wore a sky blue coat dress by Laura Green with a high collar that matched the regal atmosphere of the event. She wore her mother's ribbon brooch which was gifted to Anne in 1973 as a wedding present from none other than her brother, King Charles.

Prince Harry didn't wear his military uniform, but instead opted for an elegant morning suit by Dior.

Colourful, flowing, elegant. Princess Beatrice stood out in fuschia, in a Beulah London dress with puff sleeves and a golden quilted headband. Interestingly, the dress is called 'the Sienna', which is the same name as her daughter.

Her sister, Princess Eugenie, who is currently pregnant, wore a navy silk and satin dress by Fendi and matching hat. The two sisters whose the same jewellery designed with her necklace and earrings by Garrard.

In this shot, we get the best view of what was underneath the Princess' ceremonial gown. The dress was designed by Alexander McQueen with floral detail.

The Princess' headpiece by Jess Collett x Alexander McQueen complimented the outfit, nodding to the importance of environmental issues the new King has been so eager to highlight. Her pearl and diamond earrings once belonged to the Late Princess Diana.

Hand-in-hand as they entered the Abbey, Princess Charlotte and Louis once again captured the hearts of the public. Charlotte matched her mother, Catherine Middleton, Princess of Wales in a floral headpiece by the same designers and a replica of her mother's gown. Prince Louis wore dark blue velvet jacket with a polo neck. Adorable.

The children's grandmother and mother-in-law of the future king, Carole Middleton, always manages to get the brief on point. The blue Catherine Walker coat dress was complimented with a detailed headband and Garrard jewellery.

Fresh in pastels, Jill Biden wore a blue Ralph Lauren suit alongside her granddaughter Finnegan, who opted for summery yellow in a dress by Markarian. We love the cape of Finnegan's gown, although perhaps a bit 'old' for the young 22 year-old?

What can we say? Wow. The Lord President of the Council, Penny Mordaunt, really nailed the brief with this gold fern design, nodding to the Privy Councillor's uniform. The incredible dress is by Safiyaa and accompanied with a Jane Taylor headband. The founder of Safiyaa says, “My goal is to make women feel strong, confident and desirable by providing elements of an elevated, versatile wardrobe." Goal achieved.

The current British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his wife, Akshata Murty, were elegant, yet subtle in their choices. Sunak wore a simple morning suit with his billionaire heiress wife in a baby blue puff sleeve dress by Claire Mischevani.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Sophie Trudeau joined the long list of international politicians invited to the event. We love the tan Ted Baker dress worn by the Canadian First Lady.

Ex Prime-Minister, Sir Tony Blair, arrived with his wife Cherie. Something is not quite right with the cut for Mrs Blair, but we have to appreciate the unique neckline of the pink Suzannah London gown.

The Emir of Qatar brought his (first) wife to the event, matching his tie to her cape. Jawaher bin. Hamad bin Suhaim Al-Thani's embroidered dress stood out for us as one of the most luxurious and detailed gowns of the day.

The British actress couldn't go wrong with a little black dress - or could she? This floral red overcoat from Emilia Wickstead is one of those items you would never pick our for yourself. Does Emma Thompson make it work? The jury is still out on this one.

The former Prime Minister must have thought: what Emma Thompson can do, so can I! She put on a big, bright orange hat so everyone could see her among the 2,000 people in attendance. It wasn't quite in the style of the occasion, but entertaining indeed.

The Crown Prince and Princess of Norway arrived to the historic event, showing unity with the European royals. Unfortunately, despite the powder pink dress by Peter Dundas looking chis, she missed the mark with the gloves in the same colour. They seemed slightly oversized, wrinkled and - with the whole outfit the same colour - just didn't do herself any justice.

We feel al little sorry for Samatha Cameron, who may have watched the ceremony through one eye, considering the Jess Collett hat she wore must have obscured her view from the other. The pink floral Cefinn dress could have been a holiday maxi, fit for the beach; while her husband chose a beige waistcoat with pastel green tie. Nope.
