Actors and actresses who have died the most times on screen
1997 was ranked as 'The Deadliest Year', where the most actors died on screen. This is probably helped by the release of Titanic that same year, which saw 85 deaths in the film. These are some fascinating stats, given to us by Movie Mortality, but not as fascinating as the actors themselves who have had to die again and again on screen. We take a look at the compiled list of actor's 'on-screen fatalities' in the 21st Century.
Trejo has been stabbed through the chest with a stake in 'From Dusk Till Dawn', mutilated and killed in a plane crash in 'Con Air', and decapitated in 'Breaking Bad' and this all adds together to make him the number one actor to have died the most on screen. Congratulations, Trejo! A whopping 45 movie deaths in the 21st Century and a giant 65 movie deaths throughout his career in total. It sounds exhausting.
Perhaps best know for his appearances in the 'Alien' film franchise, Henriksen has gained a sturdy reputation in the movie business. He is incredibly versatile and has played anything from FBI agents to psychopaths. Many of his characters, however, have died, making him the second in the list of deaths on screen. 32 movie deaths to be precise.
Sean Bean, or rather, good old Ned Stark in 'Game of Thrones', has the rumour of being the actor who has died the most times on the big screen. There was even a #Don’tKillSeanBean movement on social media in 2014. But, according to CBR, the actor has only 'died' 25 times. Which films? In 'The Fellowship of the Ring', 'Goldeneye' and 'Patriot's Game' to name but a few.
Most people remember Tom from 'Saving Private Ryan' and 'Black Hawk Down'. Well, these war films come at a price: a death scene for your character. Tom has now died 24 times on-screen and, with a huge amount of films currently in production, who knows if he will eventually top the list.
Nominated for an Academy Award for his role in 'Runaway Train', Roberts draws a par with Tom Sizemore and can also count a total of 24 on screen deaths. In fact, Roberts met the number one in our list, Trejo, whilst shooting this film.
'Hellboy' as he is better known to many, Ron Perlman has also done a pretty good job at being killed-off in front of the camera. His extensive list of roles in both TV, film and voice work is impressive, so there's no wonder he has made it on to this list with a whopping 23 deaths. He has also given his voice to video games - who really knows how many times he's 'died' in that branch of his career, too?
Legendary Willem Dafoe has made over 100 films so, doing the maths, it would be fair to assume that he would end up high on the list. He has died 21 times on-screen and his career certainly isn't over yet...
Good old Vinnie Jones, after his illustrious career change from pro-footballer to actor, he has appeared in some of the best British films. Of course, he always played 'tough-guy' characters in films such as, 'Snatch' and 'Lock, Stock'. But he has appeared in many other films - and died in them - giving him a place on this list with a total of 21 movie deaths in his career.
'Face/Off' star Cage has been known to appear mainly in action films. This could explain his ability to choose characters who are killed-off in their storylines. With a total of 20 movie deaths, he's probably a pro at it by now.
Poor Robert DeNiro has also had his fair share of deaths in fiction. 19 in total. 'Cape Fear', 'This Boy's Life', 'Jackie Brown' and 'Great Expectations' have seen DeNiro take his last breath again and again.
Again, you get cast in action films, your characters will eventually end up paying the price. Samuel L. Jackson has died 18 times on-screen always with a deep dramatical flair. Yes, they're intense to watch.
Perhaps it is surprising to see James Franco here on this list, but he does have a seriously extensive CV. According to Movie Mortality, the actor shares the podium with Samual L. Jackson, having performed a total of 18 deaths in front of the camera.
The Oscar winner for 'Darkest Hour' has 'died' on 14 occasions. This is all fiction, of course, with some of his deaths having appeared in 'The Fifth Element' and 'True Romance'.
Johnny Depp is also a real death expert. The actor has died in front of the camera on 14 occasions. The bloodiest has to be in 'Nightmare on Elm Street' at the hands of Freddy Krueger.

Brad Pitt also holds his own when it comes to filming deaths. The actor said goodbye to his character in 'Legends of The Fall', for example, and back in the day he also said a sad farewell in 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button'. In total, Pitt has died in 13 different films.
And finally we get to the actresses who have died the most times on screen. Julianne Moore has died a total of 12 times in front of the camera, which is no surprise considering the volume of films this actress has appeared in. She does it incredibly well, too.
